Knowing what to expect, where to go and what to do while you are on vacation will make things much more enjoyable. Here are some tips for making the most out of your trip to New York.

Safety First!

You should always consider safety first with everything that you do. New York City is a relatively safe place. It would have to be safe with so many people traveling in and out of the city on a daily basis, but there are plenty of people in New York City that are waiting to take advantage of tourists. A little common sense will go a long way. These skilled swindlers can spot a tourist from a mile away. The easiest way to avoid them is to not make any eye contact. That does not mean that you should be staring at your feet the entire time. This will just make things even more obvious. Look at everyone else around you and blend in. That is the best way to avoid contact with the thieves of New York City.

It can get a “little crowded” is a huge understatement! Whenever I come home from New York City my ears have to get used to regular noise levels again.

  2. Joe, it is a bit of an understatement. But I guess who ever goes to NYC as a tourist, partly does so because of the crowds. In such cases, such as mine, the more, the merrier 😀 That is the whole point of city trips, to be surrounded by people of various cultures. If I want to relax and tone it down, a big city would not be my first choice for a destination.

Central Park is where it’s at, I have always wanted to walk through there and take it all in. My friend just moved to New York City to start a new job so I’ve got the perfect set-up now to take a trip to NYC. I’m so there!

I lived in NYC for a good five years and it’s a whole different ball game than other cities I’ve lived in. If you’ve never been there, you need to go. It was quite crowded and it really is the city “that never sleeps”! There is always something to do there, though, and a lot of free events are happening ALL the time.

New York City is such a neat city and there is never a shortage of fun things to check out or do. I’ve visited now 5 times and I can never get enough.
