Travel Guide to One Amazing Week in London

No matter what your attraction to the UK it is a place that should be on every traveller’s to do list. Spending a week with a London car hire will provide plenty of time to see many of the tourist sites because England is so delightfully small. Organising car hire at Heathrow airport will enable you to get going straight away and make the most of your time in this remarkable city.

Day one

Day one of any trip to a foreign country involves a lot of necessary hassle like changing money and checking into the hotel. An excellent starting point from which to begin relaxing afterwards is a stroll through Hyde Park. Hyde Park is a huge open expanse of parkland which is used for festivals like Live 8 and provides an excellent source of nature in the heart of London.

After walking around the park it is time to try some food in one of the many famous city restaurants. There are so many to choose from that you can ‘wing it’ but you will need to book well in advance for the very top restaurants.

After dinner is a good time to join a Jack the Ripper tour to get your historical interests flowing. Jack the Ripper is one of the most famous serial killers of all time and the streets in which he carried out his crimes are sources of historical wonder.

Day two

Day two should take in some of the more famous sights of the city. Driving around between Buckingham Palace, Westminster Hall, the Millennium Eye, Big Ben and Parliament should take about a day. All of these locations are worth visiting and spending time at but their close proximity to one another makes it really easy to enjoy these historical and modern monuments all at once.

Day three

On the third day it is advisable to leave London and experience some of the countryside in England. Take a drive to Stonehenge, Bath and Windsor Castle. Doing all three of these places in one day will be tiring, but entirely worth it. If you have two drivers then it shouldn’t be a problem to alternate and you will thank yourselves for making the effort when you think back over your day of sightseeing.

Day four

Day four should take in the Tower of London. The Tower of London is the centre of historical developments around the world and has a fantastic history. Check out the crown jewels and learn all about the gruesome history of the British Monarchy or the inherent noble titles. This will take around half a day to appreciate properly.

After the Tower of London the perfect remedy for that gore is a shopping trip. London is a fantastic place to shop and no holiday would be complete without treating yourself to a few goodies. Check out Oxford Street for some really amazing shopping.

Day five

The National Gallery in Trafalgar Square is an absolute must visit location when in England. Take in the amazing works of Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Seurat, Degas and Monet. With so much on offer it is certain that everyone will find something that they are interested in.

To end the trip it is almost a requirement to embrace the wonderful tradition of English Afternoon Tea and a visit to a West End performance.

After just five days in England you will have seen more than you could ever have hoped to and will be ready worn out but ready to book another trip. There is an endless amount to do in London and this trip will only scratch the surface but it will provide you with unforgettable memories.
