Customers travelling light will be able to board earlier on American Airlines, the company announced today. Trying to provide their customers with a more pleasant experience, American Airlines introduced a new system-wide boarding process that saves time and will invite customers traveling with one personal carry-on item that fits under the seat in front of them to board first.
“For customers, departing on time and arriving at their destination on time is a huge factor in how they feel about their overall experience,” said Carol Wright , American’s Vice President – Customer Planning. “Our tests indicate that this new boarding process will improve our dependability and on-time performance, while being easier and more enjoyable for our customers. It’s another example of our promise to put our customers at the center of everything we do.”
This new system was already tested this year at airports in Austin, Texas (AUS), Baltimore (BWI), Denver (DEN), Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (FLL), Kansas City, Mo. (MCI), Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) and Washington-Dulles (IAD). Customers and agents’ feedback was a positive one, thus making the company implementing the system everywhere.
The company tries to improve its services and recently launched some options aimed at providing customers a better experience. American Airlines introduced kiosks with self-tag capabilities for checked baggage, thus speeding up the check-in process. Also, the company offers some new fare choices – such as preferred seating, early boarding and even same-day flight changes, and included more power ports onboard in order to enable travelers to stay charged and connected throughout their journey.
American Airlines services more than 260 airports in more than 50 countries and territories and has a fleet of almost 900 aircraft which fly more than 3,500 daily flights worldwide from hubs in Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami and New York.
