Although it’s not Charlie’s chocolate factory, Spangler Candy offers a more than delicious insight into the making of several delights for children of all ages. The Store and Museum invite kids to get on board the Dum Dum Trolley to find out everything about the various brands of candy and savory products the factory makes.
The tours start at the warehouse and packing areas and take those with a sweet tooth through the fascinating process of making 12 million candies each day. Due to safety regulations, the kitchen areas cannot be visited, but the tour reveals the candy-making process through DVD recordings.
Starting June 1st, the tour runs from 10 am to 3 pm. And if you haven’t had enough of candy and sweets during your visit at the Spangler Candy Store & Museum, you can get more for home from the Museum store.
The museum also features an exhibition of candy samples, several artifacts and other candy making related items, all organised according to a timeline. After the tour, visitors will know more about how the company grew from a shop with a one man staff and some baking powder, to one of the largest candy companies of today.
