Easy Tips to Help You Plan Your Trip to Miami, Florida

Miami is one of the most sought after destinations for beach vacations in South Florida. It’s available all year round, it has exquisite fine dining options, beautiful beaches, and a lively night life. Miami is the perfect place to enjoy the sun, but it does’t get extremely hot either. Don’t miss the arts scene and its unique cultural landscape, the many sports and family activities, plenty of stores to indulge in shopping — your biggest concern will be what to do first. Here are a few things to consider before you head out to Miami.

Where to Stay?

Choose your hotel based on what kind of trip you prefer. Miami hotels come in all shapes and sizes and it’s quite easy to find an affordable one that fits your needs. It can be a beach hotel if you want to spend your time enjoying the water sports and working on your tan. It can be a business oriented hotel with large business centers and rooms designed to stimulate productivity. It can be a spa or private resort type of accommodation, or one that’s close to everything. Whatever you prefer, choose your hotel according to your priorities — who you’re traveling with, what you intend to do, how long you intend to stay.

Miami Weather and When to Visit

Contrary to popular belief, this sandy destination does not get extremely hot and doesn’t get very much rain either. August is the hottest month, but Miami is open for business any day, any month. June, August, and September are the months with the most rain, while January, February, and December are the driest.

The hurricanes are what travelers are most afraid of, but in reality, they don’t happen all too often. In the past one hundred and fifty years there have been about 40 hurricanes in South Florida, of which only fifteen were major ones. While it’s unlikely you would deal with such a natural disaster, it’s better to be prepared, so review these safety rules in case of a hurricane.

What to Pack?

Unless you are a business traveler that is going to attend several meetings and events every day of your trip, the best way to go about it is to pack light. Swim suits, beach wear, glasses, and sun block are always a must. Keep it light and casual, but make sure you get something fancier as well. There are a lot of hip clubs and upscale restaurants to choose from and it would be a shame if you missed out just because you did not pack the right clothes. Whatever you do, don’t forget your camera because you’ll want to have a few shots of your vacation.

What to See?

When it comes to tourist activities and attractions, your biggest worry will be what to choose and what to skip. Everything from day and night tours of the city, surfing and other watersports, beach fun, to the Museum of Science, or the Children’s Museum will catch your eye. The Seaquarium and Zoo Miami are a great choice for families, but Monkey Jungle, Jungle Island, or the Everglades should also be on your list.
