Like many other couples out there, my partner and I always want to do romantic things, but we don’t always have the time for a long vacation to an exotic destination. Sometimes, all you need to keep the spark alive is to get away from the day-to-day madness and reconnect with your loved one is a long weekend spent together. I’ve done this many times over the past year, with trips ranging from two to four days to help us relax and enjoy ourselves. Here are a few ideas for you to try out!
Long Weekend Romantic Cruise
When someone says cruise, I typically think of a week or even a month spent on a boat, sailing from destination to destination. To my surprise, there are quite a few long-weekend options out there. I’ve stumbled upon quite a few deals for Mexico long-weekend cruises, and I have to say, the idea of taking a quick trip to Baja, all drinks paid, really caught my eye. Of course, if you happen to not live in the United States, a weekend trip might entail a quick jaunt along the Danube, around the Greek Islands, or along other parts of the Mediterranean. You might also want to explore some South Asian wonders.
Regardless of where you live, finding a quick adventure to enjoy romantic activities with your significant other are only a few smart searches away.
Turn Your Business Meeting into a Romantic Getaway
We have to travel for business every now and then, and sometimes our loved ones will join us. To make sure you make the most of it and turn it into a romantic trip, just make sure you have a night or two before or after the business part of your trip. We did that this summer when I visited Berlin for an authors’ conference. My boyfriend joined me, and we explored Berlin together before and after my two days of conference.
We had quite a few romantic dinners and visits to the top attractions, and I even delighted in having my partner see me speak on a panel on science fiction. Who said business is no fun? In fact, we liked it so much, we did it again a couple of months later when he had to attend a movie festival in the Danube Delta, Romania.
Go on a Spontaneous Road Trip with Your Partner
Spontaneity is always a nice way to spark romance. And taking a quick road trip with your loved one completely out of the blue is one way of achieving that sparkly goodness. If you find out both of you have an extra day off, look for a nice cabin in the woods, a beach retreat, or a charming historic town, and off you go! If you don’t have your own car, or your vehicle’s not road-trip suited, then a car rental coupon might provide the solution. Road trips are always my favorites because we can stop wherever we want, take pictures, have picnics, and enjoy ourselves.
What are your favorite romantic getaways? Where are you planning to go next with your partner?
