JetBlue Airways and Japan Airlines have partnered to offer easier and more convenient booking options for flights connecting North American cities to Asia-Pacific destinations. The agreement, effective tomorrow, February 15th, enables travelers to book combined flight tickets on JetBlue and Japan Airlines through New York’s JFK airport and the Los Angeles International Airport.
The partnership between the two airlines implies a booking service operated by Japan Airlines and gives easier access to travelers from the busiest air flight hubs in North America, New York City and Los Angeles, to their Asian counterparts, Tokyo Narita International Airport and Tokyo-Haneda. These means travelers departing from airports serviced by JetBlue – Buffalo/Niagara Falls, New York; Charlotte and  Raleigh, North Carolina; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Boston , Fort Lauderdale and cities throughout Florida — will be able to book trips taking them across Asia Pacific – Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Seoul, Shanghai or Taipei.
As Japan Airlines offers daily flights between the two continents across Pacific, the actual trip won’t take forever to complete, apart from being easy to book. Â Also, as most Japan Airlines are mid day flights, they are perfect for people that have to catch a connecting flight in New York or LA.
Later this year the partnership between JetBlue and Japan Airlines is expected to expand and make Asia-North America flights even more convenient, as JAL will launch daily flights connecting Boston to Tokyo. As Boston is JetBlue ‘s focus city, it will give faster access for connecting flights to travelers coming here from 44 cities across the US and the Caribbean.
“JetBlue is proud to be partnering with Japan Airlines through this new interline agreement that will give customers even more choice in travel between Asia and America,” said Scott Resnick, JetBlue’s director of airline partnerships. “We also look forward to celebrating with JAL as they begin the only service to Asia from our Boston focus city, where JetBlue is the #1 airline.”
To celebrate the new partnership, the airlines have launched a promotional campaign offering a waiver of the Ticketing Service Fee for all reservations made between February 15, 2012 and March 31, 2012 for a combined itinerary including JAL on-line transpacific sector and connecting JetBlue segment at New York, Los Angeles and Boston.
