Music and travel are the ideal combination for many, so what better way to experience some of your favourite live music than by incorporating it with a visit to some of the most scenic places on earth. Music festivals have always been popular and with more taking place every year travellers have the option to visit fantastic countries all over the world and see their favourite artists live at the same time.

Coachella
Coachella is the festival of choice for the Hollywood ‘A’ list, situated in the grounds of the Empire Polo Club in Indio California; it is famous for its indie, alternative rock and electro connections. This year’s festival star guests including Katy Perry, Rihanna and Kelly Osbourne enjoyed music by Mumford and Sons, Kings of Leon and Kanye West. Due to high demand for tickets, in 2012 the festival will be across two weekends from the 13th to the 15th of April and from the 20th to the 22nd of April. After the festival has finished visitors can enjoy the nearby Californian coastline and the ever present sunshine and travel up the coast to the buzzing Los Angeles.
Glastonbury
The UK’s longest running music festival, Glastonbury is all things New Age and spiritual set in a farmer’s field between two small villages in the county of Somerset. The festival has been running since the early 1970’s when acts such as T-Rex and David Bowie headlined. Visitors this year can expect to see U2, Coldplay and Beyonce heading up the famous Pyramid stage. Once the festival is over visitors can enjoy the rolling countryside of Somerset as well as the nearby city of Bristol and its famous sites including the Clifton Suspension Bridge and the River Avon.
The Beniccasim Festival or Festival Internacional de Benicà ssim as it’s known in Spanish is the festival for those who like to mix their music concert going with stunning beach resorts. Situated on the Costa del Azahar in Spain, Beniccasim festival this year will run between July 14th and 17th and featured acts will include Primal Scream, Arcade Fire and Brandon Flowers. If beach resorts aren’t really your thing, the cities of Barcelona and Valencia are nearby for those in need of some culture and famous sights.
T in the Park
T in the Park is a 3 day festival held in a disused airfield in Belado, near Kinross, in Scotland, named after its sponsors, the Scottish beer brand Tennents. It takes place over the same weekend as the Irish festival Oxygen and often features the same acts. This year T in the Park takes place from the 8th to the 11th of July and its headliners include Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkey’s and Coldplay. For those who enjoy experiencing all the great outdoors has to offer, the Cairngorm National Park is nearby, ideal for outdoor sports enthusiasts and nature lovers.
