Living for the Weekend: The Best in Last Minute Holidays

Everyone deserves a vacation, once in a while. All work and no play makes for a dull life. For most people in America, a vacation only comes once a year, but it doesn’t have to be that way. There are plenty of last minute opportunities that are great for escaping, even if it’s just the weekend. The world is truly your oyster, but in order to sample everything that our sprawling nation has to offer, you have to take action. There is no rule that says you can’t leave work Friday afternoon and jump on a flight to anywhere your heart desires. You may even be able to arrive at your destination in an hour or less. This is a memorable way to unwind and forget about the trials of the work week. Here are four of the best destinations in America:

Miami, Here I Come!

Miami makes an excellent weekend getaway. The people in Miami are a melting pot of different cultures. This unique blend has helped to make Miami one of the top tourist destinations in not only the country, but the world. You could enjoy a five-star meal at one of the excellent restaurants in Miami, and then spend the night dancing in one of the clubs Miami is famous for.

Relax and unwind the next day by sticking your toes in the sand or take a swim in the warm waters of South Beach. The white sand stretches for miles, but don’t forget to pack suntan lotion, however. When the sun sets, you can turn around and do the same as the previous night, but this time you can choose a different restaurant and nightclub. As for getting there, don’t worry, because there are plenty of last minute flights to Miami to pick from.

Enjoy a Weekend in Vegas

What happens in Vegas does not always have to stay in Vegas, and there are always things to do in Vegas on the weekend. Las Vegas is known for its casinos, resorts, shows and more. You will have no problems finding last minute cheap flights to Las Vegas, as you make your plans for Sin City.

Take in some of the nearby desert landscapes during the day and when the sun sets in the evening, the city of Las Vegas really comes to life. It is next to impossible to be bored in Vegas. Investigate your options beforehand and make an itinerary. A weekend in Vegas will help you leave the busy work world behind.

Take a Bite Out of the Big Apple

New York City is one of the largest cities in the world in terms of population and it goes by several names. It is called “The Big Apple” and “The City That Never Sleeps,” which is certainly the truth. It makes an excellent quick vacation spot. Much like the other cities mentioned, there is never a shortage of activities in New York City. If you like food, NYC has some of the best restaurants in the world, encompassing its five lively boroughs.

If you like shows, New York City has some of the best shows: check out Broadway or any of the smaller theaters found in the city. And nearly every touring act is bound to make a stop in New York City at some point. At night, after your busy day of exploring the sights of NYC, there are a wide variety of hotels to choose from to rest and prepare for your next day. New York City has something to please just about everyone.

Plan a Trip to Los Angeles

California is a world all on its own and it can make an excellent place to visit for the weekend. There are always flights to California from just about every major American city. In CA, there are several well-known cities to call your temporary home, Los Angeles is arguably the most prominent. Los Angeles offers its guests: landmarks, historic sites, museums, zoos, aquariums, theaters, art galleries, outdoor parks, breathtaking gardens and more. You could explore Hollywood or you could go shopping in Beverly Hills, if your wallet allows it! And Venice Beach makes for one experience you won’t soon forget with its unique attractions. Plus, Los Angeles offers a thriving nightlife and you might even spot a celebrity (or two) while you’re out!
