Lots of people have had a coffee, but not many have had one on a volcano. Click here to find out about five amazing destinations for normal activities.
We’ve all gone out for a coffee, right? It’s a pretty casual, normal thing to do. Now hold your hands up if you’ve had a coffee on top of a volcano.
No one? We’re not surprised. Having a coffee on a volcano is a pretty unique experience, and probably not one that many people can claim they have done.
But there are so many experiences like this around the world. Not just coffee drinking but a number of normal, ordinary activities that you can do in extraordinary places.
Here are just a handful to know about and – perhaps – try out for yourself one day:
Wakeboarding Underneath a Volcano – Lake Arenal, Costa Rica
Wakeboarding is a pretty adrenaline-filled, exciting activity anywhere, let alone doing it in the middle of a rainforest with a gigantic active volcano looming over you.
That’s right, in Lake Arenal, Costa Rica, the company volcano.cr offers boat rentals, wakeboarding, water skiing and tubing right in the shadow of the monstrous Arenal Volcano. In other words, a watersport session unlike any other!
Breakfast in Lion Territory – Nyasi Camp, Tanzania
There are so many unique experiences you can get up to in Tanzania, but one of the most interesting – and terrifying – is waking up for breakfast at Nyasi Camp.
Seems pretty normal at first glance. You can have a bowl of granola, a cup of juice, or perhaps some fruit, only you’re staring out across the plains of Africa, literally in lion territory. Of course, you’re perfectly safe and undoubtedly well looked after but still… yeesh.
A Dip in The Skies of London – The Shard, England
Everyone knows about the Shard in London. It’s one of the tallest skyscrapers in Europe and has become a building as synonymous to London as Big Ben or Tower Bridge. Did you know, however, that you can go to the top of the tower for a dip? That’s right, fifty-two floors above London, there’s a pool where you can practice your backstroke, front crawl, and butterfly, all while looking down upon the city below.
Having Dinner on Top Of a Volcano – El Diablo, Spain
This is one of the most famous restaurants in Spain, but it’s not because of the delicious paella. No, the reason this place is so special is probably due to the fact it’s located right at the top of Montana del Fuego. A volcano. Its menu is also barbecue food, too. Nice.
Rowing With Hippos – Lake Nakuru, Kenya
Lastly, it’s pretty likely that you’ve gone rowing at one point in your life. It’s a fun, relaxing activity, right? Well, not when you do it in Lake Nakuru, Kenya. Here, you’ll be rowing a boat with a number of hippos, crocodiles, and other deadly beasts just feet away from you.
Weirdly enough, this is probably the most dangerous activity on the list – even more so than the volcano restaurant and breakfast with lions.
But don’t worry, because the tour guides are experts and know how to keep you safe, so if you’re going to give it a go, you don’t have to worry too much about impending death. That’s if you’re going to give it a go, however. Of course, we would simply advise rowing a boat down your local stream, but that’s just us. Responsible… and sane.
