Packing is one of the most time-consuming things I do in my traveling days. Trying to stay within the baggage limit and still trying to carry my whole wardrobe used to be my main struggle. Since then I have started trying to incorporate the capsule wardrobe methodology when it comes to my packing.

What it entails is choosing a few key pieces that can be mixed and matched to create different outfits. I personally tailor it to choose pieces that I know I will get the most use out of. Here are some of the key pieces.

1. A white button-down shirt

A white button-down shirt is something that you cannot go wrong with. It works for both casual and formal occasions. You can even make it work for fancier occasions by dressing it up with accessories. Pair your shirt with jeans or shorts and you have your casual look, pair it with pants or pencil skirt and you have a formal outfit. Put some flowy patterned skirt on and a chunky statement necklace and you have yourself a party outfit.

2. Jeans

A good pair of jeans is a life saver. Don’t shy away from investing in a good pair. You don’t even have to carry many while traveling. Which is why it makes the most sense. Try to carry one that is light-weight because some jeans can be heavy and take up a lot of space. You can also switch them up for jeggings. You can just switch tops and make many outfits with just one pair.

3. An A-line skirt

An A-line skirt is a fun article of clothing for a day out or being tourists and enjoying places. You can pair it with t-shirts for casual looks and shirts for smarter looks. Blouses can add a chic vibe to the attire.

4. A plaid shirt

A plaid shirt is a great outfit in itself but it is also great for layering and for styling as well. Wear just your shirt and jeans and you have an outfit. Wear a tank top and jeans and layer it with half buttoned or open shirt and you have another outfit. Wear a tank or tube top with jeans or shorts and tie the shirt around your waist and you have yet another outfit.

5. A wrap maxi skirt

A wrap maxi skirt gives you the option to wrap it as a maxi skirt or a dress. You can easily convert it in style as well depending on the way you wrap the piece. Wrap dresses are really in and chic. Some styles make the piece look so different that they don’t even look like they were fashioned from the same piece of clothing.

Knowing where you are going is the key here. Depending on that you can choose a few key pieces that you can pair with each other. Don’t shy away from rocking something formal at an informal event. You just need to know what to pair it with.
