Celebrity Cruises has its eyes on Europe and plans to take over the Old Continent in 2012 with five of its ships. In what constituted their biggest deployment to Europe, the cruise liner’s newest vessels, Celebrity Silhouette, Celebrity Solstice, Celebrity Eclipse, Celebrity Equinox, along with older fleet member Celebrity Constellation will be heading to European ports of great travel appeal.
The action of taking over Europe has started in 2010, when the cruise liner had 4 vessels cruising the European seas. The five announced for 2012 will also be touring the Continent in 2011, but as Celebrity Silhouette is not yet finished, they will only be in full formation in next year’s cruise season.
The new European fleet accommodating about 13,000 passengers will cruise on 19 different itineraries in 2012, with Venice, Rome, Southampton, Amsterdam and Barcelona as departure points. They will stop in 70 distinct ports of which 8 are brand new: Klaksvik, Faroe Islands; Akureyri, Iceland; Bari, Catania, and Ravenna, Italy; Skijolden, Norway; Koper, Slovenia and Fuerteventura, Canary Islands.
