American Airlines Launches Daily Service Between Chicago O’Hare And Dusseldorf, Germany

American Airlines announced today that it begins nonstop flights connecting its hub at Chicago O’Hare International Airport to Dusseldorf, Germany. The daily flights will be made using a Boeing 767-300 aircraft with 28 Business Class seats and 184 Main Cabin seats.

“We are very excited to be offering this new route to one of Europe’s premier business destinations,” said Franco Tedeschi , American’s Vice President — Chicago. “This new route augments our existing European service from Chicago and the route launched recently by our oneworld® and codeshare partner, airberlin, from O’Hare to Berlin. Having two new fights to Germany is a win-win for Chicago business and leisure travelers.”

“The ability to reach foreign markets with direct flights has a profound effect on our economy,” said Chicago Department of Aviation Commissioner Rosemarie Andolino . “It represents a great opportunity to grow business and tourism. In fact, the annual economic impact to the Chicago area from this new service is estimated at $125 million. This service will further enhance strong business connections between Germany and Chicago. Germany is a top investor in our city. There are about 200 Germany-based companies in the Chicago area at 500 locations.”

Business customers who will fly on this route can gain up to 20,000 bonus miles every time they fly a round trip, while customers choosing Economy class will be rewarded with 10,000 bonus miles for a round trip on this new route. American Airlines plans to add other flights this summer to its serviced destination list, launching a new international service to Asia and Europe later this spring and summer. Starting June, 12, the company will begin a service between New York — JFK and Dublin, Ireland.

In addition to these launches, the company will also launch its first-ever service to Seoul, South Korea from its largest hub in Dallas/Fort Worth, starting on May 9. at the beginning of this month, American Airlines launched a daily nonstop flight between Dallas/Fort Worth and Lima.
