Ten WATG-designed projects won top honours in 23 categories at this year’s World Travel Awards ceremony. Referred to as the Oscars of the travel industry, the World Travel Awards are one of the highest recognition a travel business can hope to achieve. Nominations are considered by a group of industry experts, and the voting includes global participation from travel and tourism executives, travel agents, and the general public.
The Emirates Palace, in Abu Dhabi, designed by WATG’s London office, was this year’s big winner with nine individual awards — more than any other property in the world. Among its many achievements, it was named “The World’s Leading Meetings and Conference Hotel.”
The Pan Pacific Singapore was also a prominent winner of the WTAs, being presented with two awards, including “The World’s Leading Business Hotel.”. The hotel was  renovated and upgraded over a several-year period by WATG’s Honolulu office while the hotel was fully operational.
“We are truly humbled to have so many of our projects acknowledged and celebrated by the prestigious World Travel Awards,” noted WATG president and CEO Mike Seyle. “What makes our destinations award winners is a passion for achieving the vision of our clients.”
Another eight WATG properties from Asia, the Caribbean, the Indian Ocean, the Middle East and North America won top honors in several categories, bringing WATG a whooping total of 23 awards. Also worth mentioning is that 60 WATG-designed projects were nominated for awards.
