What to Do when You’re in Hong Kong
Let’s say that you made plans to venture out to Hong Kong, one of the most beautiful cities in East Asia. Hong Kong is the Cantonese term for ‘fragrant harbour’ – and its being a former British colony allowed it to grow into a multi-faceted city. The best months to visit weather-wise are anytime from October to December.
Hong Kong is made up of several districts including Hong Kong Island which is the site of the original British settlement; Kowloon which is the most populous area in the city; New Territories which is made up of farms, villages and country parks; Lantau and the Outlying Islands.
Now, here is a list of the top 10 things to do if it’s your first time visiting Hong Kong:
1. Check out Victoria Peak
If there’s only one touristy activity that you should not pass up doing while visiting Hong Kong, it is none other than checking out the view of the city from Victoria Peak. The immediate vicinity is something amazingly more sophisticated than Manhattan, and beyond that is the rest of China.

These bat-winged boats (or junk boats) used to be a symbol of Hong Kong as a city – until they were overtaken by ferries and fishing trawlers. A handful of them still remain in Victoria Harbour, however, so don’t pass up on the opportunity to ride them.

You need a little bit of Jamaica in your life
Guest post by Mona Gonzales
They say that once you have been to Jamaica you won’t feel like leaving, ever. A Jamaican vacation has something for everyone. For those of us who are tired of staring at the brick wall next door, Jamaica offers the most stunning sunset and sunrise views just for your pleasure. If you are itching to get off that ergonomic office chair and stretch your legs, there are miles and miles of biking and hiking trails; river rafting and canoeing all over Jamaica. For families with kids, parents are most likely to be dragging them back home than worrying if the kids are going to be bored.

Getting to Jamaica is quite easy. Taking a flight is the best option. Once in Jamaica, you can arrange for a self-drive car. But we might as well warn you that driving in Jamaica is not for the faint hearted. The roads are narrow, winding and the local traffic can be a little wild. There are plenty of taxis around otherwise and you are bound to find a colorful, interesting cabby who will tell you tales that you would never believe. Read more…
Bali – Where elephants and people meet
Last year I went to Bali because I had been fascinated by the photos I had seen of this island. I was impressed by its natural beauty, its great food and wildlife.
This is the land of contrasts: natural richness of landscape, impressive 5 star hotels and sheer poverty of the inhabitants living in huts.
Don’t be tricked by the tourist shopping centers, they are expensive and do not express the real local flavor. I chose the smaller local towns instead which have very good and cheap food.
Also stay away from hotel restaurants, they charge way too much for food that is not as good as that served by local restaurants. Read more…
